I started my first cosmetics business at 19, while I was still at uni, and haven’t been able to stop since. I have a compulsive, obsessive passion for the colour cosmetics industry and an endless supply of inquisitive energy for creating new products, learning about running a successful business & fusing anti-aging ingredients with colour. Founded and created Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics (www.jellypongpong.com), collaborated with Nicola Roberts on her Dainty Doll range, and am now working on So Susan, my new line of peptide-loaded colour cosmetics.

I love this, and you!! How inspiring you are. I am a cosmetology professional and just recently started my own company and have been looking for cosmetic ideas. My business is called JuJu Eye and all my services are centered around the eye ie lash extensions, lash lift, waxing etc. I too, have been looking at private label comapnies and it’s like a crap shot-roll of the dice and to which one is the best. It’s been 4 months of research and I wish I had a few thousand to make my own formulations, but I don’t..yet. It is so frustrating and yes there are quite a few cosmetic companies that indeed were not forthright in saying their formulations were not proprietary, BitchSlap is another that used Lady Burd.

Do you feel with a start up that people are more apt to buy name brand or company brand? When I created JuJu Eye I have the vision to be completely branded including cosmetics, skin care, and all my supplies including lashes. The last salon I worked at the owner did that and I was met with apprehension when selling retail.

I love your thoughts and how you have documented your experience. LOVE your company name Jelly Pong Pong!! Excellent.

    Hi Susan,

I really enjoy what you do and your blogs.

I am wanting to start my own private label make up. But I don’t want black or matte silver as the packaging.

Is there any private label make up companies that offer gold packaging?

Susan, I picked up some So Susan products at the Clothes Show Live 2013, and I have to say, they are absolutely amazing, and the packaging is lovely! I really hope it takes off because I would continue to buy 🙂

The products I bought led me to your website and your blog, and it really is inspirational and insightful.

I have reviewed the products I got on a You Tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoyoV7WvJfg) and have highlighted how nice and moisturising they are, which I sometimes find is my main complaint with products I have bought.

Good luck with the So Susan range!

Love your blog. Unfortunately, the new one will not allow me to open up the entries to read them :/ will try in another browswer. I was wondering if you would be willing to share what are some questions you would ask a lab when considering to work with them? What made you choose the lab you do work with?

Also, how do you handle your shipping to your clients? As of now I am considering doing shipping on my own, but I have found a bunch of warehouse options that pack and ship. That is probably for larger companies, but I am curious what works for you?

Thank you for all the time and energy you have put into your blog. It has been extremely helpful.

    Best of luck,
